According to various sources, thousands of students from various schools in Amdo Rekong area took to the streets to protest Chinese government’s education policy on October 19. According to sources as thousand Tibetan students carrying posters and shouting “language freedom” and “Equality rights” marched through various schools and the streets monks from the local monasteries and local public also joined the rally. The Tibetan fear their language is in danger of extinction under the present Chinese government’s policy of changing all school text books into Chinese language. The story is still developing. 2. Tibetan Writer Tragyal Released on Bail. A well-know Tibetan writer Tragyal(pen name:Shogdung) has been released from prison under a form of probationary bail, apparently pending trial, and is now at home according to a report from his lawyer and other sources. We asked Mr. Jampal Monlam of Tibetan Human Rights and Democracy Center in Dharamsala about the implications of this sudden release on the many other writers, artists and singers who are still lingering in prisons or missing. 3.
